If you’ve recently realized that vermicompost and worms are the business to be in, your next step may be to question where you are going to sell these creepy crawlers and their waste. While it may seem like a simple thing to figure out, we’ve made it even simpler by creating the top 10 places where you can sell your vermicompost and worms for profit.

1. Garden Stores

You likely won’t be able to sell your worms to garden stores, but they will probably greatly appreciate an influx of vermicompost to sell. It is often used to help plants grow better and garden stores love getting their hands on anything that will help their plants.

2. Hardware Stores

Most hardware stores have, at least, a small section for gardening. Consider contacting someone at the store to see if they need a vermicompost dealer. Pro tip: visit the store before you call so you know what they are describing when you talk to them. It will also give you a chance to scope out if they have a need for your vermicompost.

3. Sporting Goods Stores

While many sporting good stores don’t sell gardening materials, they sell fishing supplies. Your worms will be perfect at these stores. Many locations keep a fridge or freezer available for their customers to choose their favorite bait from.

4. Tackle Shops

Most tackle shops sell bait for their customers to get everything that they need in one place. They likely won’t want your vermicompost, but they will be interested in the worms that you have to sell to them as bait for their customers. Beware: many bait shops will ask for more bait than what you have available. Be prepared with more than you think you will need to satisfy the demands that they have for this popular item.

5. Larger Businesses

While it may not be the easiest way to break into the business, consider talking to larger corporations and retailers. Some of them need vermicompost and some may even need worms for their business. This will give you a chance to get your name in a big store. It could lead to national attention for your vermicompost and worm business.

6. At A Stand

Roadside stands are a great place to sell worms. People will be more likely to stop at these locations because the prices are better. You will make more money off of your worms too. Selling at a roadside stand will cut out the large majority of middlemen.

7. Close To Garden Centers

If you can’t get into a garden store or center, consider setting up your vermicompost shop nearby. This will give you the opportunity to sell your goods to people who are coming from the garden centers. You’ll get a chance to show off what you have and you won’t have to worry about dealing with the strict rules that sometimes come with selling in a garden center.

8. To Cities

Many cities need vermicompost or some other fertilizer for the care and keeping of their grounds. If you know that your city is using a different type of fertilizer, check with them and create a presentation on why vermicompost will be the best. After you’ve convinced them, offer yours at a discount because you love your city.

9. At Your Own Business

Similar to setting up a roadside stand, creating your own business will give you the freedom to sell what you want and for the price that will be able to earn you a lot of money. The only downside to starting your own business is the capital that is often required for startup of the business, but it is usually well worth it.

10. Online

If you absolutely have nowhere else to sell your vermicompost and worms, do it online. The capital for a startup is relatively low. One thing to keep in mind is the shipping cost that comes with selling these online. These costs can deter customers and can quickly eat up your profits.

Hopefully, we’ve sparked your mind with some ways to get started on your vermicompost and worm selling adventure. Be sure to tell us where you’re going to sell in the comments.
